Announcing SoftRAID version 5.5.6

OWC Holdings, Inc. announces the release of SoftRAID version 5.5.6, a maintenance release which features improvements in documentation and user notifications, together with multiple bug fixes.

Primary Changes/Updates in SoftRAID 5.5.6

  • SoftRAID 5.5.6 fully supports Thunderbolt 3 devices with sustained throughput of over 2.5GB/s on a single Thunderbolt 3 bus.

  • Email Notification has been updated to support recent security enhancements in smtp servers. SoftRAID 5.5.6 includes support for almost all third party email servers.

  • Updated Quick Start Guides for both SoftRAID and SoftRAID Lite. These have been completely revamped, and are localized to all five languages supported by SoftRAID: English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

  • SoftRAID 5.5.6 features improved failover handling in the event of Mirror (RAID 0), RAID 4, RAID 5, and RAID 1+0 disk failure scenarios.

  • Improved compatibility with 4Kn (4 KB sector) drives.

  • Enhanced logging; with SoftRAID 5.5.6, more events are logged in more detail, to improve and speed-up problem diagnosis.

  • SoftRAID 5.5.6 also includes numerous bug fixes, details of which can be found in the release notes.

SoftRAID Lite, just $49

For $49, users can purchase SoftRAID Lite and convert their AppleRAID volumes to SoftRAID. In addition to SoftRAID’s highly optimized driver, users can also take advantage of SoftRAID’s advanced disk testing, disk health monitoring, and logging features.

System Requirements

SoftRAID 5 requires an Intel based running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later. Support for TRIM commands on SSDs requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later.
