How to use a SoftRAID startup volume with High Sierra

If you're using High Sierra, and booting up from a SoftRAID volume, you'll need to follow the steps given in this forum post, since the macOS High Sierra Installer does not recognize SoftRAID volumes as valid startup volumes.

Can't rename a SoftRAID startup volume
#1
Hi,

So I installed OSX El Capitan on a softraid volume and now I'd like to rename the volume as it was labeled something temporary when I was sorting drives. The problem is when I try to rename the drive the usual way in the OS I get "Unexpected error 8076".

Any thoughts?

This would not be a SoftRAID problem, the SoftRAID driver does not know anything about the file system.

Perhaps the volume directory is damaged? Try "repair disk" or "First aid" with Disk Utility.

Or Disk Warrior if you have it.
