Free 30-Day Trial
SoftRAID 4 allows you to try SoftRAID free for 30 days. This is a fully functional
version. At any time you can purchase SoftRAID 4 from the SoftRAID STORE and
convert your Trial version into a registered version.
What features are missing from the trial version?
SoftRAID 4 is a 100% fully functional version of SoftRAID.
No features are disabled during the trial period. This allows you to test all
the exciting features, such as certifying disks, email notification, SMART reporting,
etc.
What happens after the 30 day trial period expires?
When your trial expires, SoftRAID will enter "expired demo mode". This
means that most features will be disabled, such as email notification, mirror
rebuilds, etc. The expired demo mode will also allow you to convert your volumes
to Apple disk format. At any time you can purchase a license to SoftRAID 4 and
convert your SoftRAID to a fully licensed version.
After my trial expires, will I lose the data on my SoftRAID volumes?
Absolutely NOT! All your volumes will mount normally. Your mirror volumes
will still mirror, although they will no longer rebuild. But you do not, at any
time, lose access to your data.
Can I convert my existing disks and volumes to SoftRAID?
Yes! You do need to startup from another disk, as disks with mounted volumes
are write protected by Mac OS X. This startup disk must also be the same version
as your boot disk. After starting up from an external, run SoftRAID and "Convert
to SoftRAID format". THen you can restart normally and add a new disk, initialize
it with SoftRAID and "convert to Mirror volume" to make your boot volume
a SoftRAID controlled mirror volume.
After my trial expires, can I convert my disks back to Apple format?
Absolutely! We don't think you will want to go back to using the Apple driver,
but one of the features of SoftRAID is to convert disks to SoftRAID and Apple
formats and back. This helps with troubleshooting also.
How many computers can I install SoftRAID on?
A SoftRAID license is good for one computer at a time. If you have an external
hard disk, and move it between computers, that is acceptable. If you use SoftRAID
on more than one machine, the extra copies of SoftRAID will enter "expired
demo mode" and have the reduced feature set of the expired trial version.
