SOFTRAID 3.0 to Ensure G5 Compatiblity

In an effort to include testing for Apple's new G5 architecture in its new SoftRAID 3 Mac OS X product, SoftRAID, LLC today announced an extension of its beta test program. SoftRAID 3's new ship date will be the end of August.

"We are very excited about the new Apple Power Mac G5, and want to ensure SoftRAID compatibility right out of the gate" said Mark James, President of SoftRAID, LLC. "The Power Mac G5 is expected to ship in early August, and we want to make sure we work seamlessly with this new 64-bit platform. Our users have been very patient and our committment is to deliver a well-tested, robust product."

James announced that the beta test program is going extrememly well with nearly 100 beta sites testing SoftRAID 3.0. SoftRAID 3.0 will support PCI-X, FW-800 and USB 2.0. Current SoftRAID 2.x owners will be notified by E-mail when the new product ships.

The suggested retail price for SoftRAID 3.0 will be $149, with upgrades at $99. SoftRAID 2.2.2 users who purchased or upgraded SoftRAID after August 1, 2002 will be entitled to a free upgrade to SoftRAID 3. (OEM bundles do not qualify for this offer.)
