SoftRAID 2.2.2 Update Notes

Mac OS 9
The OS 9 version of SoftRAID is 2.2.2. It is compatible with Mac OS 9.2.2, and is compatible with all Mac OS versions from 7.5 on up.

Note: SoftRAID 2.2.2 is required for all versions of Mac OS 9. We have a free updater for any SoftRAID 2.x version. This updater will upgrade any SoftRAID 2.0 or later version of SoftRAID to SoftRAID 2.2.2.

Note: If you have SoftRAID 1.5 or earlier or any version of Apple's RAID, you can purchase the upgrade to SoftRAID 2.2.2 for $99.

The Read Me file has important information which should be read before upgrading. The online Read Me is available in English only. Localized versions can be downloaded.

Note: Due to problem reports with incompatible versions of Stuffit Expander and DropStuff, we offer self extracting Compact Pro compressed updaters. Please contact us if you have any problems.

SoftRAID compatibility with Mac OS 9.0.4:
SoftRAID version 2.2.2, is fully compatible with Mac OS up to version 9.0.4 and all Apple manufactured hardware released up to and including the year 2000.

Update Costs:
Any 2.x version of SoftRAID is upgradable to 2.2.2 at no cost. If you have a localized version of SoftRAID, be sure to select the appropriate updater.

Notes about older versions of SoftRAID and Mac OS 9:
Older versions of SoftRAID (before 2.2.2) are NOT compatible with MacOS 9.0 or later. SoftRAID must be upgraded to the latest version (currently 2.2.2) before installing MacOS 9.0. If you attempt to mount volumes using older versions of the SoftRAID driver with MacOS 9 the volumes will not mount and data corruption is possible.

Mac OS 8.6 Compatibility:
SoftRAID 2.0's driver was compatible with OS 8.6., but, the SoftRAID application could not create new volumes. This problem is now fixed.

HFS+ (Extended Volume) compatibility:
SoftRAID version 2.1 and higher adds the ability to create Extended volumes directly inside SoftRAID. SoftRAID 2.2.2 makes all volumes HFS+ by default.
